KMP Brand Piston Technology (Al-fin)

For turbocharged engines (e.g., in JCB 3CX Dieselmax, CAT 428), we offer pistons with an Al-fin insert. This is a cast-iron ring metallurgically bonded to the aluminum piston in the top ring groove. This prevents groove wear and piston cracking under high combustion temperatures.

Types of Cylinder Liners

Choosing the right liner determines the rebuild process:

  • Finished Liners (Honed): Factory honed to nominal size. Ready for piston installation after pressing into the block (standard in KMP Brand).
  • Unfinished Liners: Require boring and honing after pressing into the block (found in older engines).
  • Chromed Liners: Increased surface hardness for the toughest operating conditions.
