Hydraulic Overheating – The Pump Killer

When hydraulic oil exceeds 80°C, it loses its lubricating properties. This leads to rapid wear of the pump, cylinder seals, and power loss ("machine fades when hot"). A working cooler is the cheapest insurance for your hydraulic system. We offer Dellar products, characterized by dense finning and excellent heat dissipation.

Types of Coolers Available

  • Hydraulic Oil Coolers: The primary heat exchanger in excavators and loaders.
  • Transmission Coolers: Essential in JCB 3CX/4CX (Powershift/TorqueLock) machines for cooling gear oil.
  • Combined Coolers: Modules combining water, oil, and air (Intercooler) cooling in one block.

💡 Replacing a cooler after failure?

If the old cooler cracked due to age, replace the flexible hoses (rubber degrades) and top up the oil:

Can a cracked aluminum cooler be welded?

This is a temporary and risky solution. Aluminum in old coolers is oxidized and thin. Welding often causes stress cracks next to the weld after a few days of operation. We recommend replacing it with a new Azeri Parts or Dellar cooler.

How to clean an oil cooler?

Externally: with compressed air (not a high-pressure washer up close, to avoid bending fins!). Internally: if the pump seized and created swarf, the cooler MUST be replaced, as metal particles cannot be flushed out of the channels.

Unusual mounts?

Machine manufacturers often changed cooler suppliers during model production. If your cooler looks different from the photos, send us its mounting dimensions.
