⚠ Important — verify before ordering: Always confirm the tooth count (126) and dimensions (OD 404 mm / ID 371 mm / thickness 17.5 mm) against the ring gear fitted to your machine — many engine models are available with different tooth counts.
Workshop Technical Tip: The flywheel ring gear needs replacement when you notice chipped or worn teeth, difficulty starting with a known-good starter motor and battery, or a loud metallic clatter during cranking. The new ring gear is fitted using the heat-shrink method — heat it evenly to approximately 200–250°C (e.g. in an oven) and slide it onto the flywheel with the chamfer facing down. Never heat the ring gear with a direct flame at a single point — this risks localised hardening or warping. Once cooled, check that the ring gear seats flush and evenly around the full circumference. Always inspect the starter motor pinion when replacing the ring gear — a worn pinion will rapidly destroy a new ring.
