Technical Advice: Engine cover locks, due to their location, are exposed to huge amounts of dust and temperature changes. If the key encounters resistance, avoid using wet lithium greases or classic WD-40! Wet lubricants instantly bind dust, creating a hard "paste" inside the cylinder that will eventually block the tumblers. For the maintenance of locks in construction machinery, use only dedicated dry spray lubricants (PTFE/Teflon based) or graphite dust. Additionally, regularly check if the lock freely latches onto the bolt – working on vibrations with an unclosed hood often leads to breaking the hood hinges.
