Technical Advice: When replacing the pinion shaft (drive flange) oil seal, it is always recommended to use a new nut. An old nut that has been previously staked loses the integrity of its locking collar and can self-loosen under vibration. Remember to use a torque wrench for installation – overtightening will destroy the main gear's tapered roller bearings, while undertightening will lead to shaft play and immediate damage to the new oil seal.
