4WS Wheel Steering Proximity Sensor (fits JCB) - AM 701/80312

High-quality proximity (inductive) sensor for the 4-wheel steer (4WS) system by AM (Aftermarket) for JCB backhoe loaders and telescopic handlers. This is a precision component of the advanced steering system - it detects the position of the wheels or axle, allowing correct operation and switching between steering modes (e.g. 2WS, 4WS, crab steer). A faulty sensor prevents the system from working correctly, which can lead to loss of manoeuvrability or dangerous situations on the road. Fitted with a characteristic triangular plug. AM Aftermarket grade - full interchangeability with the OEM part.

Workshop Technical Tip: The 4WS proximity sensor is critical for safe switching between steering modes. Symptoms of a faulty sensor include: inability to switch steering mode, axle "drifting" (rear wheels not returning to centre), and a steering system fault warning light. Before replacing the sensor, check the condition of the plug and wiring - corroded or loose contacts produce identical symptoms to a faulty sensor. When fitting, maintain the correct gap between the sensor and the target per specification - too large a gap means no detection, too small risks mechanical damage. After replacement, carry out the axle calibration/centring procedure per the service manual.
