Flywheel Ring Gear 126T (Fits CAT 3003 3024C) - OEM 1542405

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) quality flywheel ring gear. A critical component of the starter system for Caterpillar engines. Mounted on the outer circumference of the flywheel, it is responsible for transmitting torque from the starter pinion to the crankshaft to initiate engine ignition.

Technical Features:

  • Construction: Made of high-carbon alloy steel, subjected to precision heat treatment (induction hardening of the teeth). This provides extreme resistance to wear and impact loads during engagement.

Technical Advice: Before installing a new ring gear, it must be heated evenly to a temperature of approximately 200°C - 250°C (without exceeding the steel's tempering color limit) to allow it to be seated freely on the flywheel. Never strike a cold ring gear with a hammer, as this risks micro-cracking or improper seating. Once cooled, the ring gear will shrink tightly onto the wheel. It is also recommended to verify the condition of the starter pinion – a worn starter can rapidly damage a new ring gear.
