Workshop Technical Tip: Piston pin circlips are strictly single-use items - fit new clips at every piston removal, as old ones lose their spring tension and can fall out during operation. After fitting, make sure the clip is fully seated in its groove around the entire circumference - incomplete seating risks the clip dislodging and the pin scoring the cylinder bore (serious engine failure). The pin must rotate freely but without excessive play. Note the correct clip orientation (if it has a gap/tang, position it per the manual, usually gap up or down). Wear safety glasses - the clip can fly off during fitting.
