Workshop Technical Tip: Replace the housing whenever you notice cracks, plastic damage, broken cover latches or deformed sealing flanges — even a minor air intake leak leads directly to costly engine or turbocharger repairs. When fitting the new housing, always check the condition of all intake hose connections and seals — old, hardened seals must be replaced with new ones at the same time. Always fit a new primary and safety filter element when replacing the housing — installing old filter elements in a new housing is counterproductive. Regularly check the filter restriction indicator (if fitted) and never allow the machine to operate with a blocked filter — a starved intake destroys the turbocharger just as effectively as unfiltered air.
