Technical Advice: The main symptom of a worn gas spring is the door drooping or the requirement of significant physical force to open it fully, which results from the carrier gas leaking through the piston rod seals. It is recommended to install the spring with the piston rod pointing downwards in the resting position (with the door closed) – this ensures constant lubrication of the internal seals with the oil located inside the cylinder, which significantly extends the component's service life. Do not lubricate the piston rod itself with solid greases, as they attract dust that destroys the gland seals during the stroke.
