Workshop Technical Tip: A worn ram eye bush shows up as lateral play in the cylinder rod during operation, a metallic knock when the ram loads and unloads, and increased vibration through the hydraulic system. Always check pin condition when replacing the bush — a pin with ridges or ovality will destroy the new bush rapidly. Fit using a suitable driver or press — never drive directly with a hammer, as deforming the split will prevent correct seating. Regular greasing through the nipples significantly extends service life and ensures smooth, rattle-free operation.
