Workshop Technical Tip: When rebuilding the differential, always replace the complete gear set and pins together - fitting new gears with worn pins, or mixing old and new satellite gears, leads to rapid wear and noisy operation. Before assembly, thoroughly clean the differential housing and check the condition of the side bearings - worn bearings create axial play that will rapidly destroy the new gear set. Set the backlash to JCB specification. After reassembly, fill the axle with fresh oil to the correct level and test drive operation before loading the machine.
