Workshop Tip: Before installing the new gasket, thoroughly clean both mating surfaces of any old gasket residue and degrease them. Despite the high quality of the gasket, for older machines with visible micro-pitting on the housing casting, a thin layer of high-temperature silicone may be used. Housing bolts should be tightened in a cross pattern, adhering to the torque settings recommended by the manufacturer, to avoid cover deformation.
