Workshop Tip: The steering system is critical for safety. Worn tie rod ends (play on the ball stud) manifest as the machine "wandering" while driving straight, delayed reaction to steering wheel movements, and vibrations transmitted to the steering system, which over time leads to uneven and accelerated wear of the front tires.

Golden rules for tie rod end replacement:
1. Recommended replacement in pairs: According to best mechanical practices, tie rod ends should be replaced in pairs (left and right at the same time). These components operate in identical conditions – if the right one has worn out, the left one will most likely fail soon as well.
2. Alignment adjustment: Absolutely remember that after every replacement of steering system components (even if you counted the thread turns when unscrewing), you must check and adjust the front wheel alignment (toe-in/toe-out). Skipping this step results in poor grader handling and tire destruction.
3. Proper tightening torque: Do not use impact wrenches to install the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle. Tighten the castle nut manually with a torque wrench to the manufacturer's recommended value, and then secure it with a proper cotter pin. Also, remember to lock the thread on the rod side with a jam nut to prevent the mechanism from unscrewing during vibrations.
