Workshop Tip: Installing a new turbocharger requires strict adherence to procedures. Before starting the engine, it is absolutely necessary to prime the new turbine with clean engine oil (e.g., using a syringe into the supply port) to prevent a so-called dry start, which destroys the rotor bearings in seconds. In addition, always replace the engine oil, oil filter, and air filter. Check and, if necessary, unclog or replace the oil supply and return lines of the turbine, and inspect the intake system and intercooler for the presence of foreign bodies or metal shavings from the old turbocharger.
