Technical Tip: Before installing the new ZZ90238 crankshaft, you must absolutely and rigorously clean all oil galleries in the engine block. Fine metal shavings left from the seizure of the old crankshaft will instantly score the new bearings. Furthermore, check the alignment of the main bearing saddles (line boring) – if the block warped during the failure, the new crankshaft will suffer metal fatigue and eventually snap. Only tighten the connecting rod and main bearing cap bolts using a torque wrench according to the manufacturer's specifications.
