Before installing a new liner, ensure that the counterbores in the engine block are perfectly clean, free of rust and debris. After installation, it is absolutely essential to check the liner flange protrusion above the engine block deck surface—it must fall within the tolerances specified in the ISUZU service manual. Incorrect protrusion will lead to immediate head gasket failure. Always use new piston rings when replacing cylinder liners.
