Technical Advice: Engines from the 4HK1 and 6HK1 series generally utilize a dual thermostat system (so-called thermostat "A" and "B", often differing in opening temperature or flow capacity). We recommend replacing both thermostats simultaneously to prevent uneven cooling of individual cylinders. During replacement, thoroughly clean the seat in the block/housing and apply a new gasket. If the thermostat has a small jiggle valve, ensure that during installation it is located at the highest point (at the 12 o'clock position), which will significantly facilitate bleeding the system after filling with new coolant.
