Workshop Tip: Even a microscopic leak in the spill line (fuel overflow pipe) is a common cause of engine starting problems after a long standstill. This is because the leak allows fuel to drain back into the tank and air to enter the system. When installing a new pipe, it is absolutely essential to use new copper washers under the banjo bolts. Tighten these bolts with the appropriate feel (or a torque wrench) to avoid stripping the threads in the injector seats.
