Workshop Tip: Leaks from the drain adapter are a frequent cause of smoke from the engine area and carbon deposit buildup on the turbocharger. When installing the adapter, always use a new gasket and check the return line for obstructions. Even the slightest obstruction in the drain line causes pressure to build up inside the turbine, leading to oil being forced through the sealing rings into the intake or exhaust system.
