During every transmission oil change, pull it out and check what has settled on the mesh. **Fine, silver shavings are acceptable**, but if you find larger metal chunks or fragments of friction linings, it’s a clear signal that a major clutch overhaul is looming. While the mesh can be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner or a parts washer, given the low cost of the part, we recommend installing a new filter to ensure the mesh structure hasn't been compromised.
