Workshop Technical Advice: When replacing the housing and bearing, it is absolutely essential to install a new mechanical face seal (so-called duo-cone seal). A worn seal is the most common cause of gear oil leaks, which leads to bearing seizure and the destruction of the planetary gears inside the final drive. Before mounting the drive sprocket, check the condition of the threads in the housing and use a high-strength thread locker. Remember to fill the final drive with fresh gear oil (e.g., SAE 80W90) to the required level.
