Workshop Tip: Delaying the replacement of a worn cylinder eye bushing leads to the transfer of play onto the pin, which consequently destroys the structure of the cylinder's metal eye itself. Ignoring this problem generates knocking sounds during changes in the arm's working direction and accelerates the wear of the cylinder's gland hydraulic seals.

Golden rules of cylinder bushing installation:
1. Pin verification: Always inspect the condition of the mating pin (Ø 50 mm). Installing a new bushing onto a worn, scratched, or oval-shaped pin will void the repair – the new bushing will wear out very quickly.
2. Correct installation (protecting the hardened layer): Bushings with a surface hardness of up to 62 HRC have a structure sensitive to direct, localized impacts from a steel hammer, which risks chipping the material. Use a hydraulic press (bushing puller) or a brass/copper drift for installation. It is also good practice to cool the bushing in a freezer or dry ice prior to installation to induce thermal contraction.
3. Initial lubrication: Before inserting the pin, ensure that the internal lubrication grooves of the bushing are clean and fill them generously with high-quality grease (lithium-calcium grease with molybdenum disulfide - MoS2 is recommended). Regular maintenance of the lubrication point protects the system against the ingress of water and sand particles.
