Golden rules for pin replacement:
1. The Pair Rule (pin + bushing): Replacing only the pin when the bushings are heavily worn or "oval" is counterproductive. The new pin will quickly suffer localized overloading and wear out at an accelerated rate. Always inspect the condition of the mating bushings and replace them if necessary.
2. Installation Safety (do not strike with a steel hammer!): Steel hardened to a surface hardness of 62 HRC has a highly compact and hard crystalline structure. Striking directly onto the face of the pin with a heavy steel hammer can lead to a hard shard chipping off (posing a severe hazard to eyes and hands!) or cracking the case-hardened layer. 3. Initial Lubrication and Regular Maintenance: Before sliding the pin into place, generously coat it with lithium-calcium grease enriched with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) or graphite grease. Do not forget to grease this point daily during intensive operations – grease not only reduces friction but also flushes out accumulated dirt and water.
