DieselMAX Engine Valve Cotter (fits JCB) - OEM 320/03528
OEM-quality engine valve cotter (tapered collet / valve keeper) for JCB DieselMAX and EcoMax engines (444, 448). This is a critical cylinder head component — a two-piece tapered locking collet seated in the groove of the valve stem that holds the valve spring under constant tension and ensures correct valve closure after every opening cycle. 2 pieces required per valve. OEM quality — exact dimensional fit and material hardness matching the factory DieselMAX engine specification.
⚠ Critical Safety Warning: Incorrect installation or failure of a valve cotter can cause the valve to drop into the cylinder while the engine is running — resulting in immediate and total destruction of the piston, cylinder head and bore. Always use the correct valve spring compressor tool and verify correct seating in the stem groove before starting the engine.

Workshop Technical Tip: Valve cotters are typically replaced during cylinder head overhaul — when renewing valves, valve guides or head gaskets. Always replace cotters as a full set (2 pcs per valve) together with the valve being fitted — reusing old cotters on a new valve stem increases the risk of loosening. Before fitting, inspect each cotter visually for cracks, worn groove surfaces or irregularities on the tapered face. Always use a dedicated valve spring compressor — fitting without the correct tool risks incorrect seating and catastrophic engine failure. After head assembly, verify cotter seating by lightly tapping each valve stem before installation.
