Workshop Tip: Before seating the new crankshaft in the engine block, it is absolutely required to carefully clean, flush, and blow out all oil galleries with compressed air. The installation must be carried out using a new set of main and connecting rod bearings in the nominal size. Applying assembly lube to the journals will prevent destructive friction during the first "dry" start. Tighten all bolts of the shaft supports and connecting rod caps gradually with a torque wrench according to CAT service guidelines.
