Technical Advice: Before installing the new gasket, thoroughly clean and degrease the mating surfaces on the engine block and timing housing from any old sealant residue. It is recommended to check the condition of the front crankshaft oil seal, which is seated in the timing housing – if it shows signs of hardening, it is worth replacing it together with the gasket. Tighten the housing bolts evenly and with the correct torque to avoid warping the housing, which is a common cause of recurring leaks despite a new gasket.
