Workshop Technical Advice: The viscous clutch operates based on silicone oil and a valve controlled by a bimetal strip. Very important: the viscous clutch must always be transported and stored in a vertical (upright) position (the same way it operates in the machine). Storing it horizontally may lead to oil leakage or improper oil displacement, resulting in the clutch locking up or failing to engage. If the fan can be easily stopped by hand (using a rolled-up newspaper – exercise caution!) after the engine has warmed up, it means the clutch is worn out and needs replacement to avoid engine overheating.
