Workshop Technical Tip: Before replacing the fan, always check the electrical supply — measure the voltage at the fan connector with the air conditioning switched on. No voltage indicates a relay or fuse problem rather than a faulty fan. Also check blade condition — contaminated or damaged blades dramatically reduce output even from a sound motor. When fitting the new fan, always verify the rotation direction is correct — a reversed fan pushes air through the condenser the wrong way and immediately eliminates cooling. After replacement, check the roof unit housing and seals for leaks — a leaking enclosure means refrigerant loss and a costly system repair.
