Always lubricate the new O-ring generously with clean hydraulic fluid before installation to prevent it from twisting, rolling, or pinching when tightening the filter housing. Never over-tighten the housing, as this can crush and deform the O-ring, leading to immediate leaks when the system pressurizes.
