Workshop Technical Tip: Before fitting the new main pump, always check the cleanliness of the entire hydraulic system and renew the oil and filters — contamination from the old, failed pump will destroy the new unit immediately. The critical step during installation is pre-filling the pump housing with clean hydraulic oil before the first start — running an axial piston pump dry, even for a few seconds, causes irreversible damage to the piston bores and valve plate. Also check the condition of the drive shaft and coupling — any runout or play will transfer to the new pump and shorten its service life. After installation, run the machine unloaded for several minutes monitoring for leaks and correct pressure build-up.
