Technical Advice: The most common mistake during the installation of hydraulic fittings with tapered threads, UNF, or BSP with flat/tapered sealing is wrapping them with Teflon tape or tow! These types of fittings seal on the taper surface or using dedicated o-rings. The use of Teflon tape will not only not help, but can lead to the distributor body cracking (the so-called wedge effect) or – even worse – torn shreds of Teflon will get into the system and block sensitive hydraulic valve spools. Before screwing the elements together, make sure the threads and sealing tapers are sterile clean.
