Workshop Tip: Operating machines with an operating weight of 22 to 33 tons generates massive hydraulic forces. The most common symptoms of dipper cylinder seal wear are: a visible leak from the gland, slow arm drift (sinking) under the weight of a full bucket, or a characteristic "hissing" sound inside the cylinder at maximum extension.
Installation Instructions:
1. Due to the massive dimensions and weight of the components (a piston rod with a 100 mm diameter weighs several dozen kilograms!), disassembly and assembly should be carried out using appropriate lifting equipment.
2. Before installing the new seals, absolutely check the condition of the chromed piston rod surface for bends, scratches, and pitting. Even minor damage to the chrome will quickly destroy the new gland seal lip.
3. It is recommended to gently warm the stiff Teflon (PTFE) rings in clean, warm hydraulic oil before mounting them on the 140 mm diameter piston – this will make them flexible and prevent them from cracking during stretching. Install all components in absolute cleanliness, generously lubricating them with oil before the final assembly of the cylinder.
