Workshop Tip: Before installing a new coil, make sure that the stem (tube) of the cartridge valve is perfectly clean, free of rust, and shows no mechanical damage. The coil should slide onto the stem smoothly, without using excessive force or hammering.
Important: If the old coil has burned out (bulging, burnt smell, lack of continuity), before installing a new one, be sure to verify whether the spool inside the valve has not seized due to contaminants in the oil. A blocked stem is the most common cause of hydraulic coil burnout! Also, remember to check the condition of the contacts and wires in the Deutsch plug.
