Technical Advice: A wiper seal failure is a death sentence for the entire track tensioner. If you notice the wiper is cracked, hardened, or missing its wiping lip, replace it immediately, even if the tensioner is not leaking yet. Mud getting past the wiper acts like a grinding paste that will destroy the high-pressure seals and scratch the chrome coating of the piston rod in a matter of days. During installation, always ensure that the seat in the housing is perfectly clean and the piston rod surface is free of sharp burrs.
