Technical Advice: Worn kingpost bushings manifest as significant play in the rear boom swing (so-called equipment "wobble"), which drastically reduces digging precision. When replacing a bronze bushing, always check the condition of the main pins—if they are scratched, pitted, or worn into an "egg" shape (oval), they will instantly destroy the new bushing. To seat bronze elements, use a cooling method (e.g., with liquid nitrogen or dry ice), because hammering can easily deform their edges and reduce the internal diameter.
