Workshop Tip: The pin connection of the main boom supports the entire weight of the attachments. The presence of play in this area causes the arm to sag, drastically reduces bucket control precision, and triggers severe metal-on-metal impacts, directly damaging the arm's weld structures and cylinder seals.
Golden rules for proper replacement:
1. Pin inspection: Always thoroughly verify the condition of the mating pin (Ø 60 mm). Installing a new AM bushing onto a worn, scratched, or unevenly worn pin will cause the new component to suffer accelerated wear and fail within a very short time.
2. Safe seating in the housing: Induction-hardened steel (up to 62 HRC) has a very dense surface structure. Striking it directly with a steel hammer risks cracking the coating or chipping off a fragment. The bushing should be pressed in using a hydraulic press (screw puller) or by utilizing brass/copper drifts. Prior to installation, it is helpful to cool the bushing in dry ice or a freezer (inducing thermal contraction), which facilitates its smooth entry.
3. Initial and periodic lubrication: Before seating the pin, clean the internal lubrication grooves of the bushing and fill them generously with fresh grease (lithium-calcium grease enriched with molybdenum disulfide - MoS2 is recommended). Regular pressurized lubrication creates a protective layer that repels water, flushes out quartz particles, and prevents system seizures.
