Mechanic's Tips: Remember to always measure clearances on a clean boom, free of old grease and sand. Shims should be added symmetrically on both sides of the wear pad to avoid boom misalignment. A fit that is too tight (lacking any clearance) will lead to overheating of the sliding surfaces and may cause the boom to seize under heavy load. It is recommended to leave a minimum technical clearance in accordance with the service manual for the specific series.
