Steering Knuckle Trunnion Axle SD40 (fits JCB) - OEM 440/00102

OEM-quality steering knuckle trunnion for the SD40 axle for JCB backhoe loaders, telescopic handlers and industrial forklifts. The trunnion forms the hub housing of the steered wheel - it creates the body in which the steering knuckle and hub bearings are seated, allowing the wheel to steer while carrying the driving and braking loads. A worn or damaged trunnion shows up as play in the steering, uneven tyre wear or excessive noise from the hub. OEM quality - perfect fit and durability identical to the original factory component.

Workshop Technical Tip: When replacing the trunnion, always check the condition of the kingpin bores in the housing - worn bores or worn kingpins cause play that rapidly destroys the new hub bearings. When fitting, thoroughly clean all sealing surfaces and renew the seals. Check the condition of the tapered hub bearings and set the pre-load to JCB specification - too much play accelerates wear, too little causes bearing overheating. After assembly, check the steering lock angle and axle geometry before returning the machine to operation.
