Technical Advice: Intake valve seats in 4HK1 and 6HK1 engines are installed with an interference fit. Shrink-fit installation (cooling the seat in liquid nitrogen or a freezer) is recommended to minimize the risk of damaging the cylinder head seat. After seating the component, precise valve lapping and checking the valve head recession depth below the head plane are essential. A loose or poorly machined seat leads to compression loss, starting difficulties, and increased fuel consumption.
