Workshop Tip: Valve guide installation requires precise seating using the press-fit method (cold or hot). After installing a new guide in the cylinder head, it is essential to check the clearance between the valve stem and the guide and – in most cases – perform a honing (reaming) operation of the internal bore to the nominal dimension. Also, remember that valve stem seals must be replaced whenever valve guides are changed.
