Workshop Tip: How to recognize wear on the differential discs? The most characteristic symptoms are loud knocks, squeals, or vibrations coming from the drive axle when making tight turns (especially on hot oil), as well as a noticeable drop in machine traction in difficult, muddy terrain.

Golden rules for axle servicing:
1. Always replace as a set: In the differential, friction discs work alternately with steel plates. During repair, absolutely replace the entire pack of discs on a given axle. Replacing only individual discs will quickly lead to differential failure.
2. Pre-assembly soaking: Before installing new discs, soak them for at least 1-2 hours in clean axle oil. Installing completely dry discs risks burning them immediately upon first machine loading.
3. The correct oil is essential: Drive axles with limited slip (LSD) require special gear oils containing friction-modifying additives (so-called LS - Limited Slip additives, e.g., JCB Gear Oil HP 90 LS). Using regular oil without these additives will drastically shorten the lifespan of the new discs and cause noisy axle operation.
