Workshop Tip: The 3.00 mm thick disc is often used in LSD differential packs as an oversized/compensating dimension to precisely adjust the total axial clearance.

Golden rules for axle servicing:
1. Verify pack thickness: Always make sure you install discs of the correct thickness according to service recommendations. Incorrect disc selection will cause the mechanism to lock up (no clearance) or fail to lock the wheels (too much clearance).
2. Pre-assembly soaking: Before installing new discs, soak them for at least 1-2 hours in clean axle oil. Installing completely "dry" risks immediately burning the friction material.
3. Oil with LS additive: Drive axles with limited slip require gear oils with friction modifiers (e.g., Limited Slip additives). Using standard oil will cause loud chattering in the axle during turns and rapid disc wear.
