Technical Advice: Damage to the hub housing most often results from operating with loose wheel studs, which leads to the seats being knocked out, or from ignoring the howling of worn wheel bearings. When installing a new housing – especially in the case of budget parts – pay special attention to the cleanliness of the bearing seats. It is absolutely necessary to replace the complete set of tapered roller bearings and hub seals (simmerrings). Also ensure that the bearing clearance is set with the appropriate preload, and the wheel nuts are tightened with a torque wrench.
