It is recommended to tighten the bolts in a "star pattern" in two stages. Before screwing in a new bolt, the hub hole must be cleaned of sand and rust. Never use bolts with signs of thread stretching or visible necking – this poses a risk of bolt failure and loss of the wheel during travel.
