Workshop Tip: Slew cylinders in backhoe loaders are exposed to extreme lateral forces and impacts, especially when abruptly stopping a full bucket. Before replacing the seals, thoroughly clean the entire gland. After dismantling the cylinder, strictly check if the piston rod (60 mm) is bent – this is a very common, hidden cause of rapid destruction of new seals in this assembly. Also, pay close attention to the condition of the cylinder bore. Before installing new seals, generously lubricate them with clean hydraulic oil, and it is worth gently softening the harder plastic elements in warm oil to facilitate their safe seating in the grooves.
