Workshop Tip: Cylinders operating at the excavator's bucket and dipper are exceptionally exposed to mechanical damage and contamination (sand, stones, mud). Before disassembling the gland, thoroughly clean it. After dismantling the cylinder, it is essential to verify the condition of the piston rod's chrome plating (60 mm) and the cylinder's internal bore (90 mm). Any pitting, deep scratches, or impact marks will cause immediate destruction of the new seal. Before installation, it is worth gently warming up hard piston seals in clean, warm hydraulic oil, which will minimize the risk of damaging them during stretching. Generously lubricate all components with clean oil before reassembly.
