This is a critical component of the planetary gearbox housing, providing the track for the planetary gears to move along while transferring massive driving forces directly to the undercarriage. Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel and subjected to precise induction hardening, it ensures maximum resistance to cracking and abrasion under heavy loads.

Workshop Technical Advice: The 78T ring gear is often damaged due to operation with contaminated oil or following a planetary gear bearing failure. If any chipping or material "pitting" is visible on the teeth, the ring gear must be replaced. Installing new planetary gears onto a worn ring gear will result in their rapid destruction. During assembly, ensure the contact surface with the housing is perfectly clean and that the Duo-Cone seals show no signs of wear.
