Technical Advice: The steering knuckle is a safety-critical component. During replacement, it is essential to inspect the condition of the kingpins and the needle bearings/bushings. Even minimal play in the pin seats can lead to rapid destruction of the new knuckle and the tires. It is recommended to use only new shims to set the correct bearing preload. Remember regular lubrication—a dry pin is the most common cause of seal housing cracks in the knuckle body.
