Workshop Technical Tip: Before installing the reduction gearbox, it is mandatory to check the condition of the swing ring gear for cracks or tooth wear. Installing a new pinion shaft into a worn ring gear will cause its rapid destruction. After installation, fill the gearbox with fresh gear oil (as per JCB specifications, usually 80W90 or 85W140) and check the oil level and purity regularly, as metal shavings in the oil are the first sign of internal bearing wear.
